Temple Sinai’s Campus Expansion Project

Esther Saidman and Barbara Morrison
Years ago, Temple Sinai members made an investment in the future by building the Temple we have now. It has served us so well, but needs to be updated and expanded to continue to meet the needs of our community. It is now our turn to invest in the future. With the Im Tirtzu project, we have an opportunity to create something of significance that will have a lasting impact on East Bay Jewish life for generations to come. - Esther Saidman & Barbara Morrison, Capital Campaign Co-Chairs

Fundraising goal and progress

The goal of the capital campaign is $10 million. The Board set this goal after hiring a fundraising consultant, as an objective third party, to conduct a confidential feasibility study to assess the potential of the congregation for philanthropic giving. The $10 million goal was based on the information reported by the consultant.

To achieve the campaign goal of $10 million, we are asking our members to make five year “stretch” commitments to Im Tirtzu: Imagining Sinai’s future. How are we accomplishing this ambitious goal? The way we always do–by mobilizing the strength and abilities of our congregation.

As of August 20, 2008, we have received $10,901,405 from 612 households.

Our new goal is to achieve 100% participation, and your support is crucial to our success. Your gift is also a special opportunity to honor the hard work and commitment Rabbi Chester has made to our community. We understand that all of our congregants have different financial situations, but that most would like to make a contribution to this important project for our community. Every gift—at every level—will contribute toward turning our collective vision for an ideal temple home into a reality.
