Project Scope and Highlights
After careful review of our needs, we plan to incorporate the following elements into this expansion project:
- Entrance — a unifying, welcoming, fully accessible entry way with a comfortable lobby where people may sit while waiting for appointments or for children. Attractive and informative displays about upcoming services and programs.
- Accessibility and Circulation — new spaces designed with accessibility in mind. One elevator providing access to all levels. Bimah in sanctuary made wheelchair accessible; added wheelchair accessibility throughout the sanctuary; improved accessible connection between Stern Hall and main Sanctuary.
- Preschool — 6 new classrooms in a secure area each with direct access to children’s bathrooms and 4,500 sq. feet of exterior play area.
- Classrooms — new classrooms for religious school, Midrasha, and adult education programs.
- New Chapel— a beautiful chapel that seats up to 250 people (increasing our capacity from the current chapel which holds 100). Flexible seating for innovative services and programs. Audiovisual capabilities suitable for concerts, lectures, performances, special events and life cycle celebrations.
- Main Sanctuary — our historic and beautiful sanctuary will be preserved as is except for enlarging a lowering the bimah and changes for greater accessibility.
